the differance between a freeride and a down hill is the geometry, the wheel base, and weight of coarse. Free ride bikes have a steep head tube angle and have a shorter wheel base which makes them easier to jump and a down hill bike is raked out and sits low. An rmx is a free ride bike but that dos not mean that you can down hill one though but its not going to be as good as dhr, or a v10, or a sunday, or a cove shocker d.h
